Since the global strengthening of the Fridays for Future movement in 2019, the topic of an urgently needed change in society has moved to the centre of public discourse. The climate crisis can only be overcome through a socio-ecological transformation of all areas of society. Turning away from fossil fuels, comprehensive renaturation processes and a continuous greening of the construction industry are only part of the necessary measures and place responsibility on planners and the construction industry. A shift away from an economy based on limitless growth towards a model based on a circular economy is inevitable. But despite scientific forecasts, we are continuing to push the planet to its limits at a rapid pace.
Against this backdrop, this autumn’s architecture film matinée WELT GESTALTEN will bring together four documentary films entitled TRANSFORMATION, which shed light on the many challenges of our time.
Following the film: discussion with Felix Malte Dorn (Institute for International Development, University of Vienna, researches the global political economy of decarbonisation and energy transition).
